our mission

Grace Lubbock UMC is a church community which is a part of the Horizon Texas Conference of The United Methodist Church.

We believe that all are welcome and created uniquely by God. No matter where your story has led you so far, grace and mercy are waiting for you. We are here to listen and help connect you to a community that will help you grow in your faith and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Below is more on what we believe as United Methodists.

  • God

There is but one living and true God, everlasting, without body or parts, of infinite power, wisdom, and goodness; the maker and preserver of all things, both visible, and invisible.

  • Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ, truly God and truly man. He lived, suffered and died on the cross. He was buried, rose from the dead and ascended into heaven to be with the Father, from whence he shall return.

  • The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is God’s presence in our world. It is the means by which divine grace is offered to all creation. When we sense God’s leading, challenge, support, or comfort, it is the Holy Spirit at work.

  • Human Beings

Genesis 1:27 asserts that we’ve been made in the image of the Creator. Like God, we have the capacity to love, care, and create. However, it is by divine grace alone that we are empowered to act in accord with God's will.

  • The Church

The church is the body of Christ, an extension of Christ’s ministry in the world. It is held together and enlivened by the Holy Spirit, and given direction by God, it's head. It is a gathering to celebrate the Christian life through service, worship, and sacrament.

  • The Bible

We believe the Holy Bible, both the New Testament and Hebrew Bible, reveals the Word of God so far as it is necessary for our salvation. It is to be received through the Holy Spirit as the true rule and guide for faith and practice.

  • God's Reign

The Kin-dom of God is both a present reality and future hope. It is a promise that the all-embracing love of the creator, that sees a world where all are welcome, all are embraced, and all are provided for, will be increased in the world as more believers embody God's grace.

  • What is Wesleyan Grace?

United Methodists recognize God's grace at work throughout our spiritual journeys. John Wesley wrote and preached about the role of God's grace to prepare us, redeem us, and continually shape us into the people we were created to be.
